Description

For all persons, OPPREMMM is a set of constructed monthly health insurance variables indicating whether they have other public healthcare coverage with a premium (HIOTHGOVPREM) in a given calendar month. By adding OPPREMMM to your data cart, you are in effect adding 12 monthly health insurance coverage variables (OPPREMJA-OPPREMDE), one variable for each calendar month.

The OPPREMMM variables are provided only to assist in editing and should not be used to make separate insurance estimates for these types of insurance categories. Questions about other public hospital/physician coverage were asked to confirm whether a person who did not initially report any comprehensive coverage during a round has insurance. Respondents reporting other hospital/physician coverage were asked follow-up questions to determine if they had any other public coverage (OPMM, other public coverage that is an HMO (OPHMOMM), and other public coverage where a premium is paid (OPPREMMM). These variables are not mutually exclusive.
