Description

For all persons, DUPERSIDRD is an AHRQ-generated identifier created by combining DUIDRD and PIDRD. From 1996-2017, DUPERSIDRD uniquely identifies records within a panel. To uniquely identify records across all MEPS panels, please see the variable description for MEPSID. Beginning in 2018, DUPERSIDRD uniquely identifies records across panels due to changes in the construction of DUIDRD to add PANEL to the first two digits of the DUID identifier.

From 1996-2017, DUPERSIDRD is an 8-digit numeric variable. Beginning in 2018, DUPERSIDRD is a 10-digit numeric variable.

Comparability

From 1996-2017, DUPERSIDRD is 8 digits wide and uniquely identifies records within a MEPS panel. Beginning in 2018, DUPERSIDRD is 10 digits wide panels due to the increased width of DUIDRD and uniquely identifies records across MEPS.
