Description

For all dental visits (EVENTYPE = 5), DENTFLNGX indicates if the visit included fillings. DENTFLNGX is the edited version of DENTFLNG; values for DENTFLNGX and DENTFLNG are identical except for cases where the value of DENTFLNGX was updated to reflect information about services received at the dental visit reported in DENTOTH. Beginning in 2017, information about whether the visit included individual restorative services such as fillings, inlays, crowns or caps was combined with into a single variable, DENTRSTRX.

DENTFLNGX is one of a set of dental visit variables reporting the type of dental provider seen, the dental services received, and the total expenditures overall and by payment source associated with each dental visit.
