Description

For eligible adults in Rounds 1, 3, and 5 (ELIGRD and ROUNDRD) age 18+ who are not deceased (PSTATSRD) who have ever been diagnosed with COVID-19 (CVDEVERRD) that lasted 3 or more months and who did not have these symptoms prior to having COVID-19 (CVDLONGRD), CVDLONGNOWRD indicates whether they are currently experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or Long COVID.

MEPS began treating Long COVID as a Priority Condition in 2022 (for more information about how MEPS defines Priority Conditions, please see PRTYCOND). CVDLONGRD is one of a series of questions designed to capture information about Long COVID. For more information about COVID-related variables, see the description for CVDEVER.

Children under the age of 18 were asked the series of questions about Long COVID, but their responses have been suppressed for confidentiality reasons. In the IPUMS, these children are coded as Not in Universe.
