Description

For all dental visits (EVENTYPE = 5), DENTCLNX indicates if the visit included cleaning, prophylaxis, or polishing. DENTCLNX is the edited version of DENTCLN; values for DENTCLNX and DENTCLN are identical except for cases where the value of DENTCLNX was updated to reflect information about services received at the dental visit reported in DENTOTH. Beginning in 2017, information about whether the visit included dental cleaning, prophylaxis, or polishing was combined with information about whether the visit included periodontal recall (DENTRCLVISX) in the variable DENTCLNRCLX.

DENTCLNX is one of a set of dental visit variables reporting the type of dental provider seen, the dental services received, and the total expenditures overall and by payment source associated with each dental visit.
