Description

For veterans (ARMFEV) who needed a referral from their VA primary care provider or Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) to see a health care provider outside the VA in the last year (VET12MNEEDREF), VET12MGETREF indicates how often the respondent received the referral as soon as they needed. Answer choices include "Never", "Sometimes", "Usually", and "Always".

This variable is part of the Veteran Self-Administered Questionnaire (VSAQ), which was fielded in 2018 and 2019 and collected information on veterans' health conditions and health care services.
