Description

For all current and institutionalized persons ages 13 and older who indicated they had a functional limitation (LMTPHYS), LMTLIFT indicates how difficult it is for the person to lift a 10-pound item (like a bag of groceries). Respondents were asked to choose 'no difficulty,' 'some difficulty,' 'a lot of difficulty,' or 'completely unable to do it.'

Collection frequency and timing for LMTLIFT change over time. This question was fielded annually from 2017-2019 and 2022 forward. In other years, it was fielded more than once per year and those responses are recorded in the round-level variable LMTLIFTRD.
