Description

For all dental visits (EVENTYPE = 5), DENTORLSRG indicates if the visit included oral surgery. Responses recorded in DENTORLSRG are unedited; an edited version of DENTORLSRG is available in DENTORLSRGX. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality advises analysts to use the revised versions of the dental visit variables in their analyses but also makes these unedited versions available. Beginning in 2017, information about whether the visit included oral surgery was combined with information about whether the visit included extraction or a pulled tooth (DENTEXTRCT) in the variable DENTEXTSRG.

DENTORLSRG is one of a set of dental visit variables reporting the type of dental provider seen, the dental services received, and the total expenditures overall and by payment source associated with each dental visit.
