Description

For all dental visits (EVENTYPE = 5), DENTCRWNSX indicates if the visit included crowns or caps. DENTCRWNSX is the edited version of DENTCRWNS; values for DENTCRWNSX and DENTCRWNS are identical except for cases where the value of DENTCRWNSX was updated to reflect information about services received at the dental visit reported in DENTOTH. Beginning in 2017, information about whether the visit included fillings, inlays, crowns or caps was combined into a single variable (DENTRSTRX).

DENTCRWNSX is one of a set of dental visit variables reporting the type of dental provider seen, the dental services received, and the total expenditures overall and by payment source associated with each dental visit.
