Description

For veterans (ARMFEV) who visited any health care provider outside of the VA in the last 12 months (VETVOUTVAYR), VETVOUTVAKNEW indicates how often this provider knew of the respondent's past health problems or treatments. Answer choices include "Never", "Sometimes", "Usually", and "Always".

This variable is part of the Veteran Self-Administered Questionnaire (VSAQ), which was fielded in 2018 and 2019 and collected information on veterans' health conditions and health care services. Estimates using VSAQ variables should rely on survey weights VETWEIGHT. See ARMFEV for a full list of variables from the VSAQ.
