Description

For all dental visits (EVENTYPE = 5), DENTPRSTIC indicates if the visit included fixed bridges, dentures or removable partial dentures, relining or repair of bridges or dentures. Responses recorded in DENTPRSTIC are unedited; an edited version of DENTPRSTIC is available in DENTPRSTICX. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality advises analysts to use the revised versions of the dental visit variables in their analyses but also makes these unedited versions available. DENTPRSTIC was introduced in 2017; in previous years, information about whether the visit included fixed bridges (DENTBRDG), dentures or removable partial dentures (DENTDTURE), or relining or repair of bridges or dentures (DENTRPR) were offered as three separate variables.

DENTPRSTIC is one of a set of dental visit variables reporting the type of dental provider seen, the dental services received, and the total expenditures overall and by payment source associated with each dental visit.
