Description

For all dental visits (EVENTYPE = 5), DENTEXTSRGX indicates if the visit included extraction, having a tooth pulled, or other oral surgery. DENTEXTSRGX is the edited version of DENTEXTSRG; values for DENTEXTSRGX and DENTEXTSRG are identical except for cases where the value of DENTEXTSRGX was updated to reflect information about services received at the dental visit reported in DENTOTH. DENTEXTSRGX was introduced in 2017; in previous years, information about whether the visit included extraction or a pulled tooth (DENTEXTRCT) or an oral surgery (DENTORLSRGX) were offered as two separate variables.

DENTEXTSRGX is one of a set of dental visit variables reporting the type of dental provider seen, the dental services received, and the total expenditures overall and by payment source associated with each dental visit.
