Description

For all dental visits (EVENTYPE = 5), DENTCLNRCLX indicates if the visit included cleaning, prophylaxis, polishing, or periodontal recall visit (periodic or regular). DENTCLNRCLX is the edited version of DENTCLNRCL; values for DENTCLNRCLX and DENTCLNRCL are identical except for cases where the value of DENTCLNRCLX was updated to reflect information about services received at the dental visit reported in DENTOTH. DENTCLNRCLX was introduced in 2017; in previous years, information about whether the visit included cleaning, prophylaxis, or polishing was included in the variable DENTCLNX and information about whether the visit included periodontal recall was included in the variable DENTRCLVISX.

DENTCLNRCLX is one of a set of dental visit variables reporting the type of dental provider seen, the dental services received, and the total expenditures overall and by payment source associated with each dental visit.
