RESPRD

Description

RESPRD identifies the respondent, or the person who answered the interview questions for the reporting unit in round. Only one respondent is identified for each responding unit. In instances where the interview was completed in more than session, only the first respondent is indicated.

The respondent can be either a responding unit member, or a non-responding unit member who is a proxy. A respondent's proxy status on the round record is indicated in the variable PROXYRD.

Comparability

In 1996, RESPRD only includes eligible persons in rounds 1 and 2 of data collection; in subsequent years, RESPRD is available for all inscope persons. Otherwise, this variable is completely comparable across time.

Universe

  • 1996: All persons who are eligible (ELIGRD = 4) and in rounds 1 or 2 of data collection.
  • 1997-2023: All persons.
