2022 MEPS Summer Workshop
Held in conjunction with the 2022 Data-Intensive Research Conference
July 18-19, 2022 | Minneapolis, MN
IPUMS Health Surveys is accepting applications for the 2022 IPUMS MEPS summer workshop. The workshop will be held July 18-19, 2022 at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. It will be held in conjunction with the 2022 NDIRA Data-Intensive Research Conference. We are planning on an in-person workshop; however, we continue to monitor the public health situation related to COVID-19 and will convert to a fully virtual event if warranted.
We are targeting scholars who have worked with quantitative data, but are relatively new to IPUMS and/or the Household Component of the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS-HC) data. By attending this workshop, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, early career researchers, and experienced scholars developing a new line of research will receive:
- an in-depth tutorial on the IPUMS version of the MEPS-HC data, including the medical condition and event data,
- sample code and hands-on lab time to become familiar with the MEPS-HC data,
- support to set up a data file or files suitable to address a specific research question, and
- opportunities to discuss research ideas with others who have similar interests.
