2022 MEPS Summer Workshop

Held in conjunction with the 2022 Data-Intensive Research Conference

IPUMS Health Surveys is accepting applications for the 2022 IPUMS MEPS summer workshop. The workshop will be held July 18-19, 2022 at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. It will be held in conjunction with the 2022 NDIRA Data-Intensive Research Conference. We are planning on an in-person workshop; however, we continue to monitor the public health situation related to COVID-19 and will convert to a fully virtual event if warranted.

We are targeting scholars who have worked with quantitative data, but are relatively new to IPUMS and/or the Household Component of the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS-HC) data. By attending this workshop, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, early career researchers, and experienced scholars developing a new line of research will receive:

*IPUMS MEPS Data Deep Dive presentations and Specialty Topics in IPUMS MEPS Data hands on sessions will be tailored based on participant interest, but may include case studies leveraging unique aspects of MEPS data for the study of population health and/or health care financing, and manipulating complex data structure for studies using different units of analysis or linkage across records.

Applicants should complete this form by April 18, 2022 and be prepared to submit a brief statement about their professional background, interest in attending the workshop, and how attending the workshop will further their research or professional development.

Workshop space is limited to 10 participants.

IPUMS Health Surveys will offer travel support for some participants selected to attend the workshop and conference. Travel support recipients will receive reimbursement for some or all of the following expenses: domestic airfare, ground travel, lodging, and meals.
