For all persons, VSEXPSRC is a set of summary expenditure variables indicating the total amount paid for glasses and contact lenses by source of payment during the current calendar year. By adding VSEXPSRC to your data cart, you are in effect adding fourteen annual summary expenditure variables covering glasses and contact lenses. These variables include:

• VSEXPSELF: Annual total direct health care payments for glasses and contact lenses made by self/family

• VSEXPMC: Annual total of direct health care payments for glasses and contact lenses made by Medicare

• VSEXPMA: Annual total of direct health care payments for glasses and contact lenses made by Medicaid

• VSEXPPR: Annual total of direct health care payments for glasses and contact lenses made by private insurance

• VSEXPVA: Annual total of direct health care payments for glasses and contact lenses made by the Veterans' Administration

• VSEXPTR: Annual total of direct health care payments for glasses and contact lenses made by TRICARE

• VSEXPOF: Annual total of direct health care payments for glasses and contact lenses made by other Federal sources

• VSEXPOL: Annual total of direct health care payments for glasses and contact lenses made by other State and local sources

• VSEXPWC: Annual total of direct health care payments for glasses and contact lenses made by Worker's Compensation

• VSEXPOPR: Annual total of direct health care payments for glasses and contact lenses from other private source

• VSEXPOPU: Annual total of direct health care payments for glasses and contact lenses from other public source

• VSEXPOS: Annual total of direct health care payments for glasses and contact lenses made by other unclassified sources

• VSEXPPTR: Annual total of direct health care payments for glasses and contact lenses made by private insurance and TRICARE

• VSEXPOTH: Annual total of direct health care payments for glasses and contact lenses made by all other sources
