For persons who have served on active duty in U.S. Armed Forces, Reserves, or National Guard in the past, but not currently (ARMFEV), VETPROXYREL indicates the respondent's (proxy) relationship to the veteran surveyed by the questionnaire.

This variable is part of the Veteran Self-Administered Questionnaire (VSAQ), which was fielded in 2018 and 2019 collected information on veterans' health conditions and health care services.
