Description

For persons aged 17-23 who are in scope, STUDENTRD reports if the person is a full-time student, in round. For round 1 of an entering panel, the age restriction is based on the person's age at the time of the preceding NHIS interview date.

Comparability

In 1996, STUDENTRD only includes persons aged 17-23 who are eligible for data collection and in rounds 1 and 2; in subsequent years, RUSIZERD is available for all persons aged 17-23 who are inscope. Otherwise, this variable is completely comparable across time.

Universe

  • 1996: Persons aged 17-23 who are eligible (ELIGRD = 4) and in rounds 1 or 2 of data collection.
  • 1997-2016: Persons aged 17-23 who are in scope, in round.
