For all persons, RXEXPSRC is a set of summary expenditure variables indicating the total amount paid for prescribed medications by source of payment during the current calendar year. By adding RXEXPSRC to your data cart, you are in effect adding fourteen annual summary expenditure variables covering prescribed medications. These variables include:

• RXEXPSELF: Annual total direct health care payments for prescribed medications made by self/family

• RXEXPMC: Annual total of direct health care payments for prescribed medications made by Medicare

• RXEXPMA: Annual total of direct health care payments for prescribed medications made by Medicaid

• RXEXPPR: Annual total of direct health care payments for prescribed medications made by private insurance

• RXEXPVA: Annual total of direct health care payments for prescribed medications made by the Veteran's Administration

• RXEXPTR: Annual total of direct health care payments for prescribed medications made by TRICARE

• RXEXPOF: Annual total of direct health care payments for prescribed medications made by other Federal sources

• RXEXPOL: Annual total of direct health care payments for prescribed medications made by other State and local sources

• RXEXPWC: Annual total of direct health care payments for prescribed medications made by Worker's Compensation

• RXEXPOPR: Annual total of direct health care payments for prescribed medications from other private source

• RXEXPOPU: Annual total of direct health care payments for prescribed medications from other public source

• RXEXPOS: Annual total of direct health care payments for prescribed medications made by other unclassified sources

• RXEXPPTR: Annual total of direct health care payments for prescribed medications made by private insurance and TRICARE

• RXEXPOTH: Annual total of direct health care payments for prescribed medications made by all other sources
