Description

RESP identifies the respondent, or the person who answered the interview questions for the reporting unit, as of 12/31 of the survey year, or at their last interview round in the survey year. Only one respondent is identified for each responding unit. In instances where the interview was completed in more than session, only the first respondent is indicated.

The respondent can be either a responding unit member, or a non-responding unit member who is a proxy. A respondent's proxy status is indicated in the variable PROXY.
