Description

For all persons, OBTOTVIS captures the total number of office-based medical provider visits during the year. These are encounters that took place primarily in office-based settings and clinics, and include visits to both physician (OBPHVIS) and non-physician (OBNPHVIS) providers. For a small proportion of sample persons, the sum of the physician and non-physician visit variables is less than the total number of office-based visits because OBTOTVIS contains reported visits where the respondent did not know the type of provider.
