Description
For all eligible persons, INTERVTYPRD indicates which interview mode was used to administer the person's interview. This variable was recorded by the interviewer administering the instrument. Possible responses were in person, by telephone, or by video call using the CAVI (computer-assisted video interview). This information was collected every round beginning in 2022.
The CAVI was introduced in 2022 as an alternative to a telephone interview. It is designed to allow for two-way visual and audio interaction between interviewers and participants. It enables respondents to share records visually and interviewers to display show cards to assist participants in selecting a response. Development of the CAVI was prompted by respondents' unwillingness to have an interviewer into their homes because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
