For adult respondents who have ever been told that they have a heart condition other than coronary heart disease, angina, or heart attack (HEARTCONEV), HEARTCONTYP reports the type of heart condition they were diagnosed with. The variable HEARTCONAGE records the age of the respondent at the time of diagnosis.

Questions about heart disease were asked as part of the Priority Condition Enumeration (PE) section. Priority Conditions are those with relatively high prevalence and for which generally accepted standards of clinical care have been developed.
