Description

For all persons who are eligible for data collection in the round, FAMSZERD reports the number of persons associated with a single family unit in round. FAMSZERD is calculated after students are linked to their associated parent RUs for analytical purposes. This variable is appropriate for family-level analyses, though users should note that persons ineligible for data collection are not included.

FAMSZERD is a two-digit numeric variable.

Comparability

In 1996, FAMSZERD only includes eligible persons in rounds 1 and 2 of data collection; in subsequent years, FAMSZERD is available for all inscope persons. Otherwise, this variable is completely comparable across time.
