Description

For all condition-event link records, DUPERSIDJ is an AHRQ-generated identifier created by combining DUIDJ and PIDJ. From 1996-2017, DUPERSIDJ uniquely identifies records within a panel. To uniquely identify records across all MEPS panels, please see the variable description for MEPSIDJ. Beginning in 2018, DUPERSIDJ uniquely identifies records across panels due to changes in the construction of DUIDJ to add PANELJ to the first two digits of the DUIDJ identifier.

From 1996-2017, DUPERSIDJ is an 8-digit numeric variable. Beginning in 2018, DUPERSIDJ is a 10-digit numeric variable.

Comparability

From 1996-2017, DUPERSIDJ is 8 digits wide and uniquely identifies records within a MEPS panel. Beginning in 2018, DUPERSIDJ is 10 digits wide panels due to the increased width of DUIDJ and uniquely identifies records across MEPS.
