Description

For all dental visits (EVENTYPE = 5), DENTPED indicates if the person saw a pediatric dentist during their visit. Although the dental care section of the MEPS questionnaire began asking about whether a pediatric dentist was seen in 2017, it was included in DENTGEN in 2017 before moving to a separate variable, DENTPED, in 2018.

DENTPED is one of a set of dental visit variables reporting the type of dental provider seen, the dental services received, and the total expenditures overall and by payment source associated with each dental visit.
