Description

For all dental visits (EVENTYPE = 5), DENTORTHX indicates if the visit included orthodontia, braces, or retainers. DENTORTHX is the edited version of DENTORTH; values for DENTORTHX and DENTORTH are identical except for cases where the value of DENTORTHX was updated to reflect information about services received at the dental visit reported in DENTOTH.

DENTORTHX is one of a set of dental visit variables reporting the type of dental provider seen, the dental services received, and the total expenditures overall and by payment source associated with each dental visit.
