Description

For all current or institutionalized persons aged 18 and older, CHRBRONC asks if the respondent has had chronic bronchitis in the previous 12 months. Yes responses do not include people who had single acute bronchitis infections.

Collection frequency for CHRBRONC changes over time. This variable was collected annually from 2017-2019 and 2022 forward. In other years, this question was fielded more than once a year and those responses are recorded in the round-level variable CHRBRONCRD.

CHRBRONC is collected as part of the Priority Conditions Enumeration (PE) section. These conditions were selected due to their relatively high prevalence and because generally accepted standards for appropriate clinical care have been developed.
