For all current or institutionalized persons who have ever been diagnosed with asthma (ASTHMAEV), ASTHEPISDE indicates when the person's last episode of asthma was.

Collection frequency for ASTHEPISDE changes over time. This variable was collected annually from 2017-2019 and 2022 forward. In other years, this question was fielded more than once per year and those responses are recorded in the round-level variable ASTHEPISDERD.
