Description
For all persons, AMNPEXPTR captures the sum of direct payments made by private health insurance (AMNPEXPR) and TRICARE (AMNPEXTR) for care from ambulatory nurse practitioners. Ambulatory care visits are those that involve medical provider and hospital outpatient combined visits. Payments for over-the-counter drugs and indirect payments not related to specific medical events, such as Medicaid Disproportionate Share and Medicare Direct Medical Education subsidies, are not included in this amount.
