For all persons who are in scope, AGERD reports the person's age in round. Age is top-coded. Please see the Comparability and Codes tab for additional information on top-coding of age over time.
AGERD is a 2 column wide variable with no implied decimals.
85: 85+ years of age (available 2001-forward)
86: 86 years of age (only available 1996-2000)
87: 87 years of age (only available 1996-2000)
88: 88 years of age (only available 1996-2000)
89: 89 years of age (only available 1996-2000)
90: 90+ years of age (only available 1996-2000)
96: Not in universe
Comparability
In 1996, RUSIZERD only includes eligible persons in rounds 1 and 2 of data collection; in subsequent years, RUSIZERD is available for all eligible persons. In 1996-2000, age was top-coded at 90 years. Beginning in 2001, age was top-coded at 85 years. Other than changes in the rounds of data collection and top-code, this variable is completely comparable across time.
