Description

For all dental visits (EVENTYPE = 5), DENTDTURE indicates if the visit included dentures or removable partial dentures. Responses recorded in DENTDTURE are unedited; an edited version of DENTDTURE is available in DENTDTURE. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality advises analysts to use the revised versions of the dental visit variables in their analyses but also makes these unedited versions available. Beginning in 2017, information about whether the visit included dentures or removable partial dentures was combined with information about whether the visit included fixed bridges (DENTBRDG) and/or relining or repair of bridges or dentures (DENTRPR) in the variable DENTPRSTIC.

DENTDTURE is one of a set of dental visit variables reporting the type of dental provider seen, the dental services received, and the total expenditures overall and by payment source associated with each dental visit.
